Cubs Band History

On April 9, 1982, the Cubs, behind starting Hall of Fame starting pitcher Ferguson Jenkins, with relief help from Hall of Fame reliever Lee Smith, shut out the New York Mets 5-0 at beautiful Wrigley Field in Chicago in front of an opening day crowd of 26,712 happy fans.

On that same day, the Chicago Cubs Dixieland Band made their Major League debut and have been performing there ever since. The 2014 season represented their 33th year on the job.
